Description
Calcium Polystyrene Sulfonate (CAS No. 37286-92-3) is a high-purity pharmaceutical grade strong acid cation exchange resin supplied in calcium form as a cream to light brown fine powder. Specifications are aligned with the British Pharmacopoeia (BP). The material is based on a crosslinked polystyrene co-polymer with sulphonic acid functional groups and is insoluble in water and in ethanol (96%). It is designed to remove potassium by exchanging it in the gastrointestinal tract for calcium.
